Ghana: Siting Permit Application for Wind Park Konikablo

While our 225 MW Ayitepa Wind Farm in Ghana is fully permitted in the meanwhile (www.upwindayitepa.com), the project at Konikablo is also making substantial development progress. By mid of January 2018 we have handed-in the application for the so-called Siting Permit to the Energy Commission.

The wind farm project Konikablo is located roughly 70 km east of Accra and is under development for several years now. It already received many official authorizations, among others the construction licence from the District Assembly, the environmental permit from the Environmental Protecion Agency and the provisional energy supply licence from the Energy Commission. We hope that the application we handed-in to the Energy Commission will lead to the issuance of the Siting Permit, which forms the basis for the next development step - the issuance of the building licence by the Energy Commission.

The Konikablo Wind Park is planned with up to 60 turbines and a maximum installed capacity of 200 MW. We assume that the project will be fully permitted within the coming 12 - 18 months, what would lead to a construction start in 2020.

So far, we have not yet contracted an investor or operator for this project, but this will occur in the coming months. We will keep you updated in this respect.
